When most people think of events, they picture the glamorous decor, the joyful smiles, the laughter-filled toasts, and maybe even the stress behind the scenes. But what they rarely see is the person quietly capturing the magic—one intentional moment, one conscious story at a time.

As an Eco Event Content Strategist, my job doesn’t start when the event begins, and it doesn’t end when the lights go out. It’s a layered journey—one that weaves storytelling, sustainability, strategy, and soul into a purposeful visual and written narrative. So what does a day in my life really look like?

Let’s go behind the lens.

6:00 AM – Grounding with Nature & Intention

Every day begins with nature. Whether it’s a barefoot walk on Tobago’s sun-kissed sand, a quiet moment on the porch listening to the birds, or deep breaths beneath a canopy of green, I ground myself before I create.

This moment matters because my work is rooted in purpose. I’m not just showing up to “snap content.” I’m preparing to capture a living, breathing story that aligns with the values of the brands, businesses, or changemakers I work with. From eco-conscious weddings to purpose-driven corporate retreats—this work requires presence.

8:00 AM – Content Planning & Pre-Event Strategy

Before I even pack my camera, bag or charge my devices, I review the event’s purpose, sustainability goals, brand messaging, and audience expectations.

This is where I shift from content creator to content strategist. I sketch a mini blueprint of the types of content I’ll capture:

- Eco-touches (reusable decor, compostable dinnerware, upcycled installations)

- Natural elements (local flora, earthy landscapes, the soul of the venue)

- Human connections (candid smiles, moments of reflection, behind-the-scenes magic)

- Brand storytelling (aligned content that speaks to the host’s mission)

It’s not just about beautiful visuals—it’s about meaningful alignment.

10:00 AM – On-Site Arrival & Quiet Observation

I arrive early—always. I observe the setup, connect with the hosts or coordinators, and start capturing the subtle magic that happens before guests arrive. That soft breeze lifting a linen banner. The care in a vendor’s touch as they plate vegan hors d'oeuvres. The sparkle of sunlight on glass water dispensers filled with locally infused citrus and herbs.

I also scout the best lighting, angles, and natural backdrops so I can move mindfully throughout the event.

This is where strategy meets instinct.

11:00 AM – Capturing Eco Moments that Matter

As the event unfolds, I don’t just “take photos”—I document the essence.

With my iPhone or camera in hand, I quietly document the layers of sustainability and intention infused into the day. I capture not only what people see, but what they might overlook:

- The compost bins tucked beside the bar

- The local artisan booth supporting island makers

- The tear that slips down a bride’s cheek as she walks past her grandmother’s heirloom tablecloth, now part of her eco altar

I know that the clients I work with don’t want cookie-cutter content. They want real moments. They want a story that reflects their values. And they want a professional who can tell that story in a way that connects and converts.

3:00 PM – Live Social Snippets (With Purpose)

If it’s in scope, I curate live snippets or Stories for the host’s social platforms—always with their eco brand voice in mind. A short video showing the refillable water station. A Reel of barefoot dancing in the sand. A quote card from the keynote speaker on sustainable change.

Every piece of content is intentional. I’m not just “posting”—I’m guiding the host’s audience to see what this event represents.

6:00 PM – Sunset Reflections & Final Frames

The golden hour is a sacred time. I slow down, step back, and take in the fullness of the day. These last frames are about light, emotion, and gratitude. They’re the photos and clips that often become anchor visuals—the ones that remind us that this day mattered.

8:00 PM – Back at Home, Storyboarding Begins

Once the equipment is down and my feet are up (maybe with a glass of sustainable wine in hand), I begin organizing, sorting, and laying the groundwork for the event’s content rollout.

Whether I’m writing captions, mapping out post-event content for the client, or editing visuals to reflect the natural beauty and brand, this part of the process ensures the content lives on with purpose—long after the last guest has left.

A Final Word

Being an Eco Event Content Strategist is more than a job—it’s a calling. I’m here to help conscious hosts, purpose-driven brands, and sustainable changemakers tell their stories in ways that feel aligned, authentic, and deeply intentional.

So the next time you plan an eco-conscious event, remember—it’s not just about who plans it or photographs it.

It’s about who helps you tell the story of your impact.
